Gyms in Phuket: Prices, Areas and How to Choose Yours

A classic weight room is the first thing most people look for after moving to Phuket or arriving for the winter season. Good news: the choice is huge. Our catalog currently lists 105 gyms, fitness clubs and sports complexes across the island — from local no-frills weight rooms to premium clubs with a sauna and an ice bath. Here is what it costs, where to look and how to pick the right one.
What a gym costs in Phuket
Price guide as of July 2026:
- a single visit (drop-in) — 150 to 500 baht (local gyms in Phuket Town are cheaper, the tourist coast is pricier);
- a monthly membership — 1,500 to 4,500 baht;
- premium clubs with a sauna, pool and ice bath — 4,000–6,000 baht per month;
- an annual membership — from 12,000 baht, almost always 20–30% cheaper than paying monthly;
- a personal training session — 800 to 1,500 baht per hour.
European-style annual contracts with auto-renewal are not a thing here: nearly everywhere you can pay month to month or buy visit packs, and the first session is often free or half price.
Where to look: areas and names
Phuket Town — 45 gyms. The island's capital trains at home: the lowest prices and the widest choice, from old-school weight rooms to modern clubs. Some offer 24-hour key-card access, like UTime Fitness (rated 4.9). A local classic is Workout Club with a 4.8 rating and hundreds of reviews.
Chalong — 21 gyms. The island's sports capital: next to the fight camps you will find serious strength and conditioning gyms like Unit 27 and Titan Fitness Camp — handy if you want to mix lifting with Muay Thai and CrossFit.
Rawai — 11 gyms. The long-stay south: The Cult Fitness Society (4.9) and FX Fitness Gym (4.9) are the kind of gyms people stick with for years.
Patong — 8 gyms. The tourist centre: the legendary Maximum Fitness with about 1,600 reviews and Fitness Hero — big gyms used to visitors, with no-questions drop-in and weekly rates.
Thalang and Bang Tao — 9 gyms. The north with the newest infrastructure: the flagship is Fitness Hero Bangjo, rated 5.0 and one of the most modern clubs on the island.

How to choose: a five-point check
First — the commute. Same rule as for fight gyms: more than 15 minutes by bike and motivation melts. Second — air conditioning: training hard in an open-air gym in the heat is tough, so check the cardio zone. Third — how busy it is at your hours: drop by at 6 pm; if there is a queue for the racks, mornings will save you. Fourth — the equipment: free weights and racks matter more than rows of machines. Fifth — people and service: how you are greeted at the front desk, whether there are towels, water and showers.
If you want a coach
Personal trainers on the island work both on club staff and independently, with their own rates and partner gyms. Profiles with experience, languages and prices are collected in the coaches section — pick by your goal, from basic technique to competition prep.

Where to start
Open the catalog, filter by your area and compare two or three gyms by photos, rating and opening hours. Take a drop-in visit to each — for 500–1,000 baht you will know exactly where you want to spend the next few months. And if your goal is serious, pick a coach and start with proper technique.
